Rovio is Wowee’s new roaming robot which I first came accross whilst viewing Engadget. He will be coming to the UK around August time and is set to astonish with some pretty cool capabilities:

• Wifi Enabled
• Attached camera with 3 views
• Bi-directional audio
• It can navigate itself to preprogrammed areas within the home
• It can locate its charger when it needs it
• Omni-directional base (three wheels to move sideways, 360’s etc)

What does this mean? Well it means you can have a mini spy in your house! You can drive it around your home online, have two way conversations online, change viewing angles and when your finished it automatically drives itself accross to charge up!

Would I want one? In a word. Yes!

Has the picturesque setting of Home and Away given you the erge to go surfing? Not anywhere near the sea? Don’t Fret, you can now do it in your back garden (well allmost)!

Just imagine….a lovely sunny day, bbq in the background, cold beer in one hand and you’ve just lost the aerobee. What next? Get the Skimboard set out! This comes with an 8ft inflatable mini pool which connects to the garden hose and your all important SkimBoard.

Launch yourself with all the commitment you can muster and see how far, or fast, you can skim! For those wanting to impress you can always add a few tricks to your repetoir but be warned…beer doesn’t always go hand in hand with skill!

Ilhan (yet to write a post) came accross this product and thought it was great. Its basically a lilo that you can put ice in. As the product name and the picture gives away you can use this to keep salad at a nice cold crispy temperature…Although this is not Australia and even in the deepest of the English summer, our salad, if kept outside, is likely to suffer frost bite.

Still…I can see us pome’s using it to store our beer in for those brave enough to plan a BBQ. Or maybe it should be kept as a lilo? Extra large, rectangular serving station with 12 x 42″ interior accommodates multiple serving bowls…Could this be the next big thing!!?

I’ve recently come accross a very cool looking robot that was shown at the nanoTX conference in Texas in October of last year.

Zeno is capable of two way conversations and facial expressions Zeno will be an incredibly lifelike robot. Although it is still in prototype stage David Hanson, creator of Zeno, has said that he will recognise your face, learn from interaction and build a relationship with you. David Hanson has a goal of launching it to the public within 3 years with a price tag of around £100-£200.

HYmini is a lightweight hand held device that uses wind power, solar power as well as the normal plug socket to charge all your gadgets and gizmos. Previous green gadgets have been quite cumbersome but not this little one.

It looks quite cool, is lightweight and can even attach to your bike!

Its very current what with the emphasis on reducing carbon footprint, it won’t cost that much and would save your money….but would its good points transfer onto the open market?

Puchi Puchi (translated to “Pop Pop” from Japanese) is a keyring bubblewrap simulator….need I say anymore!!

I first saw this on the Jonathen Ross show after he had a trip to Japan. I remember getting really excited at the prospect of infinate pop satisfaction that normally only lasts 5 minutes. This little gadget will keep on popping and popping! It even gives you random noises (various animals, doorbells etc) at every 100th pop.

Will it be too much though!? MMmmmm the jurys out on that one!

I like reading stories about big corporations donating money to charity, it’s just a shame that not more of them do so. The latest contributor to a cause of good is Apple who are helping raise money for a new charity called (PRODUCT) RED who focus on battling AIDS in Africa.

To pass over the pennies, Apple have launched a new special edition red iPod Nano and have agreed to donated $10 from each sale to the (PRODUCT) RED charity to help those affected by AIDS and HIV in Africa. And it’s still the same price as other iPod Nanos.

Bono and Oprah Winfrey, amongst other celebs, have partnered with Apple Computer on the new red iPod Nano and in the name of promotion both bought ten of the new swanky iPods at Apple’s retail store in Chicago.

The (PRODUCT) RED charity was created by Bono and Bobby Shriver, Chairman of DATA. They hope to raise awareness and money for The Global Fund by teaming up with the world’s most iconic brands to produce (PRODUCT) RED branded products. Other companies that plan on offering special (PRODUCT RED) items include the Gap, Converse, Armani, American Express and Motorola.

Haven’t things changed? When you went to a coffee shop a few years ago, you’d be lucky if you got a smile from the staff to go with your tasty hot beverage. This handy little gadget slips straight into the USB port of your laptop and after you’ve pressed ‘detect’ all the free Wi-Fi hotspots will show up on the display screen. E-let of Japan are the brains behind this baby and though we’ve not heard a whisper about pricing or availability, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.

If you’re into health and fitness, you probably have a good idea of how a heart rate monitor works. Traditionally, you fix a strap around your chest, which monitors your heart, and these results are then displayed onto the accompanying wrist watch. However, things just went one step further.

“BioShirt” comes complete with integrated sensors that send heart rate information to the wristwatch computer via Bluetooth. The idea behind it is to get rid of the ‘unsightly’ chest strap, but wouldn’t you normally wear something over the top of your chest when working out? Mind you, hairy back man at my gym has no qualms with getting his torso out so maybe this would be the perfect thing to convince him to cover up. Just a thought.

What we have here is what appears to be the miraculous solution to a picture perfect nose, minus the scalpels and the wads of cash you’d have to part with if you had surgery. By wearing this rather painful device, (which kind of resembles the nose plugs you wear when you go swimming to stop the water going up your nose) it’s claimed that you’ll get a “Beautiful New Look of Nose.”

So for the many thousands of people out there who are less than happy with the appearance of their snouts but can’t face going under the knife - why not give this a go?

And if you look at the ad closely, it transpires that an added benefit of using this contraption is that you can actually “Be a Cleopatra’s Nose.” Amazing. I’ve always wondered what Pharaohs smelt like. One for me please.
